An Experiment

Steak and son

We used to live in Canal Fulton Ohio and we had a really great yard. It was about 3/4 of an acre which was big enough to play around in, yet easy enough to mow and care for. What was great about the house was that we were at the end of a street and our backyard opened up into a large field. Part of the year it was filled with that year’s crop (corn, beans, scrub during off years) and also cows. I don’t like cows for any particular reason, (my dog was a different story – he loved to provoke them)  but I still remember when we first walked into the house for the first time they were passing by and we could see them through the open windows. There was something about the open windows in the fall, cool breeze and the cows grazing in the back yard that just sold us. It was very hard to give up the privacy and the view from our deck but we eventually outgrew the house and had to move. Our backyard now is nice but the view is lacking compared to the old pad. I guess there’s one positive – no cow odors wafting throughout the house in the fall.
