Coral pink runs across the top edge and starts dropping, thinning as it goes, until it can't hold its color anymore. Below that the canvas turns to teal — a shallow-water green-blue with a band of deep indigo running through the middle like fish holding in a current, or the seafloor falling away. The bottom goes pale and chalky. Everything moves vertically. The surface is built in layers and gravity finishes the strokes, so the drips are the record of what the paint did on its own after I stopped telling it what to do.

Medium: Acrylic on canvas. Heavy texture. Finished with gloss varnish.
